Remote update and backup over mobile broadband
Reported by Kenrick Turner | January 15th, 2010 @ 12:58 PM
The application should have a scheduled daily job to go online, check specific servers for software updates, download updates, verify signatures and decrypt, and update the software.
Additionally, it should remain online for a specified period of time for an incoming SSH connection and if a connection is opened, should only disconnect once the SSH session is finished. The SSH server should be running behind a port knocker such as tumbler (http://tumbler.sourceforge.net) or implementation of shimmer (http://shimmer.sourceforge.net), as should the update servers.
The most suitable implementation of these requirements will be with a Bash script called from Cron, and should be executed by a non-root user.
This feature requires replica hardware to develop including a server and mobile broadband dongle.
